Exploring Printmaking

Grades 3 – 5
10 Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
January 8 – March 19, 2019
Excludes February 19, 2019

Relief printmaking to paper collage. Students will spend time exploring varying tactile ways to translate their ideas through illustrations and drawings into prints and how that works laid out on the block or plate, resulting in the freedom of multiples. Students will be encouraged to play with all the possibilities of the medium and all the ways they can manipulate their outcomes. We will spend time learning the basics of how works appear opposite through the press with simple styrofoam and pencil (alluding to etching techniques) then moving into some mono printing and collagraph work then how to carve (linoleum or wood) all the while emphasizing the experimentation that becomes illuminated with multiples by being expected to collage with their prints, paint back into them, or make them sculptural.

If your K-5th grade child is not being dropped off to art classes by a parent or guardian, they must be enrolled the Snack ‘n Track program.
