Ceramics Fall 2021

MMA is excited to announce our adult ceramic fall programming starting in October! We’re back in the studio folks and we couldn’t be more excited to make art with you. Our studio offer two electric kilns, tw0 3×3′ hand building tables, eight wheels, two sinks, air purifiers, hi&lo fire glazes, small storage area for projects and natural light + plants!

Handbuilding 101 – In MMA Ceramic Studio
Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30pm 10/5/21-12/7/21

The talented Mary Kenny returns to our space with a Handbuilding 101 course which mixes together tactile building experience while thoughtfully sketching through ideas. Students must be 18 or older to participateClick here for more details + registration.

Wheel Throwing: From Cups to Cakestands – In MMA Ceramic Studio
Wednesdays, 6:30-9:30pm. 10/6/21 – 12/8/21

Goblets! Butter dishes! Ring holders! The possibilities on the potter’s wheel are endless! Regardless of skill level, this course has something new to teach you. We will work together to imagine, draft, and execute various forms of your choice. This will be a fun, creative, and experimental space to explore wheel throwing and some handbuilding according to your interests. Students must be 18 or older to participate. Taught by new MMA instructor, Gustavo Tavares Barceloni was born in Brazil and raised in Greater Boston. He creates illustrative tableware, installations, and community based projects that promote working class power and explore the complexities of living within the Brazilian diaspora. Gustavo holds a BFA in ceramics from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and a M.Ed from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He has taught middle school history, free community ceramics classes, and workshops on art activism. In his freetime you can catch him foraging, fermenting, or skateboarding.

Handbuilding at Home – At Home/By Appointment Studio Visit
This fall we still have the option for participants to ‘join us’ in art making from their homes in our Handbuilding at Home program. Open ended timeline, and perfect for the whole family! No age requirements. Click here for more details + registration.
