6-8th Grade Arts Afterschool 2022-2023

Where It All Begins…

Registration will be open 8/8/22 at 8pm [click here!]

Our students have the opportunity of walking into our studios to transform creative thinking into tactile projects. Our art programs are scheduled for ‘sessions,’ which enable students to experience the studio in a cohort that rotates through different media every seven weeks.

This exposure to a variety of art media allows students to maximize their time within the studio. 6-8th graders will work with our instructors in mixed media printmaking/painting as well as handbuilding and wheel throwing in our ceramics studio.

Because of our smaller class size (max of 8), our instructors have the opportunity to build personal relationships with the students and hone in on creative practices that interest their particular cohort of students.

Fall and winter sessions act as an introduction to materials and skill set; whereas in spring sessions, instructors will build on skill and offer more challenging projects, as well as introduce the elements of public art, which will be displayed among the FKA ABC and MMA campus.

Students will be able to enroll in a session throughout the year to accommodate their other after school activities.

Daily Timeline of programming | Our program begins once all students are onsite. Students will have snack and recess with all age groups enrolled in the after school arts program.

At 3:30pm we transition into our designated art classes. Each day our instructors meet with groups of 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6-8th graders. Classes end at 5:30pm, where students are picked up, or dismiss themselves.
