Memories in Mixed Media | A Workshop + Pop Up Exhibition
Dates & Time: October 22d, 29th and November 5th 2022  | 10am-2pm
MMA 2D Studio (second floor, accessible by elevator).
Instructor: Eli Quinn

About Eli: Eli is a visual artist currently living in Somerville, MA. Originally from Pawtucket, Rhode Island they came to Boston to study Printmaking at MassArt. Since graduating in 2015, Eli has worked as an artist assistant, printshop monitor, and art instructor working with all ages. In their personal work they also love making books & zines, painting, drawing, collage, and creating designs & show flyers for bands.

Our personal narratives and histories are shared through visual art making, threading our community together. Join the Living Well Network and Maud Morgan Arts as we explore our stories in a three week mixed media workshop.

What is mixed media you ask? It’s the combination of painting, printmaking, collage and experimental drawing/ink materials. Participants are also encouraged to bring in personal items to use in artwork, or to draw inspiration from.

Unwind and reflect on a personal experience, and play with something new. This workshop is a space to try new things, give yourself permission to let your imagination go, and jump in.

On the final day of the workshop, artists will hold space for a discussion of reflection on each other’s work. Each artist will select a piece they worked on for the final piece of art to be included in an exhibition, that will be presented at Simon’s Coffee Shop (located 1736 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA). Timeline of exhibition and reception TBD). 16×20” white frames will be provided by MMA to enable the installation at Simon’s.

The workshop will meet on three Saturdays (10/22, 10/29 + 11/5) from 10am-2pm. Artists have the option to bring lunch and break whenever needed.

Fees cover all materials (including the frame) and tuition. Fees are non-negotiable. Minimum of 5 students need to enroll in order for the workshop to run. If the workshop is canceled due to lack of participants, all registered artists will receive a refund. Workshop open to artists 18 and older. Scholarships are available.
