Annie Silverman
http://anniesilverman.com/Annie Silverman is a relief printmaker and book artist who has been creating experimental work with print installations, printed dimensional objects and books for over 20 years, many of which contain printed, collaged elements. In 2007 she formed ABRAZOS PRESS with Sandra Butler and Nina Wishnok at the Miller Street studio building in Somerville, MA. ABRAZOS PRESS is a small teaching and professional studio where workshops are routinely given in Mixed media printmaking, Woodcut printmaking and Artist Books.
For many years Annie taught Artists Books and Relief Printmaking as a part-time instructor at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally, most recently In Gronningen in the Netherlands, and at the Cahoon Museum of Art in Cotuit, MA. She has created solos exhibitions over the past 3 years at Philips Andover Academy,in Andover, MA, and at Bentley University in Waltham, MA. Her dimensional print collage:”Le Cirque Imaginaire” was just accepted into the 2019 Boston Printmakers Biennial, which will be exhibited at Wellesley College in September 2019.
Annie has conducted teaching and artist residencies in Ireland and Denmark, and will return to teach a Master Class in Pronto plate (polyester plate lithography) this coming May at the Fynsk Graphic workshop in Odense,Denmark next to the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. She is working on a book project: 18 years of Woodblock Prints, which she hopes will be published in the Fall of 2019.
She curated her first exhibition, THE DICTIONARY PROJECT, at the Brickbottom Artists Gallery in Somerville in 2005. In 2015 she curated THE BIRDS AND THE BEES, at the NAVE ANNEX Gallery in Somerville and in August 20017,once again at the NAVE Annex in Somerville, Annie curated ABRAZOS PRESS’s 10 anniversary exhibition: Wondrous Strangeness.
