Week 1: Paint with Fiber, Ceramics

Paint with Fabric: Color, Form, Pattern
Working with a collection of artist designed cloth and using glue as the primary means of assemblage, your pieces will take diverse forms such as a mandala wall cloth, wearable art, a large serving tray or a string of flags. We will incorporate acrylic paint and stitched elements layering color, pattern, and representational images if you choose, focusing on a specific theme or exploring abstract composition.

Ceramics
Explore the satisfying skill of throwing on a potter’s wheel while you relax with your hands in clay. Move and shape clay on and off the wheel as you work on inspired functional to sculptural works. Hand glaze your work and experience the surprises when the kiln is unloaded.
