Maud Morgan Arts Printmaking Residency
Immersive opportunity for two emerging/mid level career mixed media printmakers to share a work space at the Maud Morgan Arts Center. Selected participants receive exclusive access to print and 2D studios between August 1st – August 29th, 2020.
Artists must be a self starters and ready to dive head first into art making in a community oriented space. Artists should also be prepared to hold a larger conversation with the MMA/ABC community about their work.
The two selected artists will collaborate with the MMA admin team to create two workshops for MMA/ABC’s Summer children’s programming (Outback and Maud Morgan’s Art World Camp) derived from the art work their creating throughout the residency. As well as have the opportunity to exhibit their work created during the residency in a pop-up exhibition at the Chandler Gallery.
This residency is an ideal opportunity for mid level career artists to experiment with new work and further individual artist objectives in printmaking.
How to Apply:
Artists must enter through our digital application process. Applications open on December 6th, 2019. There is a $25 non refundable application fee.The deadline for applying is May 29th, 2020. Finalists will be selected by the Chandler Gallery Committee and Administrative Team at MMA/ABC. Finalists will then be interviewed, the final two artists will be announced on June 12th 2020. If your looking to partner with someone, please make a note of it in your application. All artists must apply separately.
MMA Studio Stipend:
Each artist will receive a $250 stipend to use towards: materials, travel or housing. Artist must provide receipts at the end of the residency.
MMA will provide, cleaning supplies, shop towels, newsprint and basic usage of brushes, pencils etc. MMA provided materials will be given at the beginning of the month. Any materials used to create artwork must be brought in by the artist.
Artists are asked to plan and implement workshop related to their artwork with the ABC Outback Camp.
*Note that Outback camp also shares the Maud Morgan Arts Building. Our goal is showcase artist working on an immersive body of work with dual programming in the arts center.
Pop Up Exhibition at the Chandler Gallery:
Artists will be given a pop up at the Chandler Gallery from September 14 – 18th, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 17th, 6-8pm. Work will be installed by the Chandler Gallery Coordinator, Boriana Kantcheva.
About the Chandler Gallery:
The Chandler Gallery occupies what was once the gracious parlor of a Victorian house. The fireplace, the moldings, the wood floor, and the large windows are intact, giving an intimate feel of warmth and light to the gallery. General information about the Maud Morgan Arts Print Residency:

Length of Residency: August 1st – 29th (5 weeks) Non-living on site.
Visiting Studio Hours:
All guests on the property must be pre-approved during camp hours. Open studio hours for visitors are scheduled from 6-9pm.
The application process includes the following:
- Current Artists Resume + CV
- Proposed Printmaking Project Summary
- Up to ten images of current work
- Three references
- $25 Application fee
- All applicants must pass a cori.
- Must be present for the exhibition reception & children’s programming aspect.
- 2 Meetings/trainings with our Print studio tech
- Travel, food, and materials are not covered expenses.
- Finalists will undergo a short interview process
- Artists must be 18 years and older applying.
- If MMA/ABC Admin team feels the studio is being misused, artists will be asked to leave.
- All final applicants must pass a cori.
- Artists must have secure living arrangements offsite.
- No application refunds
- Artists are responsible for bringing onsite their materials, as well as taking their materials offsite when the residency has concluded.

About the Studio Spaces:
Artist are given access to Maud Morgan Arts Print and 2D studio located on the second floor of the art center. Our print studio boosts:
- 48” x 22” stainless steel sink.
- Aqua inks making our space non toxic.
- Takach Press — 22” x 48” press bed with Captain’s Wheel.
- Four 8” Takach hand brayers, more than a dozen 3.5” rubber brayers (several smaller, down to 1.5”). Two large inking rollers ( 22” and 16”).
