Design and  fabricate a 8” X 8” mosaic and learn how to cut tiles into a variety of shapes and arrange them to best emphasize your design.

Painting Light: A Watercolor Workshop

Explore strategies for painting with watercolor. Focus on a variety of working methods and increase your understanding of how transparent washes can be layered both to create a full range of light and dark and to adjust colors as you works.

HONK! Parade Mask Workshop

Join us to make a silly mask or hat, eat some pizza, and then join the HONK! Parade as it marches into Harvard Square!

Ceramics Summer Series

The summer is what you make it. This class will focus on wheel as well as hand-building construction processes. Artists will receive personalized instruction and will benefit from demonstrations as well as instruction on finishing techniques using various glazing combinations.

Making a Mandala

1 – 3:30 pm

Create surprising and fun works by designing and assembling fabrics to form a mandala. Explore ideas, imagery, color, symbols and materials in a celebratory mandala that draws inspiration from your own experiences of your community and the world around you. Make your own mandala and contribute to a large collaborative mandala for all to enjoy.

Actually looking while drawing and painting is a profoundly different experience that just passing through. Alexandra will guide you in your explorations with pen and pencil, paper and paint.

Acrylic Mixed Media Hands-On Demo

Join local artist Adria Arch to experiment with a wide range of painting techniques using Golden Acrylic paints and mediums. Beginners and experienced artists are encouraged to join. Attendees will receive a sample pack of Golden Acrylic products.

Drawing: From Observation to Metaphor

This workshop will stress finding your way of transforming the literal world into a poetic visual experience. Our goal will be developing a personal perspective toward your own art process.

Throughout our time we will move from observation to discovery and transformation. We will explore the language of marks, shapes and visual organization through serious play. We’ll take some time to look at the evolution of drawing through history and the techniques that made it visible and changed our ways of seeing.

Ceramics By Hand

Students will explore hand-building construction processes such as coils, slabs, pinching, and experiment with slump molds. A variety of glazing techniques with be shared in order to achieve desired decorative and finishing techniques using various glazes and resists.
